Dr. Bruce Flachsbart was appointed to the Bellmead City Council on January 13, 2026, to fill the unexpired term representing Precinct 1.
Dr. Flachsbart has been a faculty member at Baylor University since 2023 and previously spent more than 30 years teaching and conducting engineering research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds a U.S. patent and received the highest undergraduate teaching award in the College of Engineering.
During his tenure at Illinois, he helped fund and establish a Micro-Nano-Mechanical Systems cleanroom and directed the Engineering Student Projects Lab, growing student participation from 280 to over 1,200 students competing nationally. His passion lies in building strong teams and helping them succeed.
Councilman Flachsbart is married with two sons and is committed to serving the residents of Precinct 1, guided by the principle of Galatians 5:13b: “Through love, serve one another.”
