Councilman Gibson was elected Bellmead City Council Member for Precinct 2 in May 2015 and re-elected in May 2017, May 2019, May 2021, May 2023 and May 2025.
Gibson served as Mayor from May 2019 to May 2020 and again served as Mayor from May 2022 to May 2023.
Councilman Gibson is a native of Waco, Texas, and a graduate of Waco High School Class of 1989. Gibson was a model student-athlete and used football as a tool to continue his education. He received an athletic scholarship to attend the University of North Texas and earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 1994. Gibson is an employee of Waco ISD and is enrolled in the Alternative Teacher Certification program at McLennan Community College.
Gibson is a firm believer in God, family, and community. He and his wife, Launda, have been married for 19 years and are proud parents of five children. Although Gibson is a native Wacoan, his family has resided in Bellmead for almost two decades and his children attend La Vega ISD.
