Public Works

The Department’s primary responsibilities are to oversee and support infrastructure planning, design, and construction, as well as maintenance operations for water and sewer, streets, city facilities, and city vehicles. The Public Works Department includes the following divisions:

  • Fleet Maintenance
  • Streets
  • Drainage 
  • Utility Operations

Streets and Drainage

The Streets and Drainage Divisions are responsible for maintaining the city streets and drainage in order to provide the citizens safe and effective streets and drainage ways. The responsibilities of the divisions include the maintenance of:

  • City owned parking lots 
  • Signage 
  • Curb and gutters
  • Street surfaces
  • Street sweeping 
  • City owned stormwater drainage areas

Utility Operations

The Utility Operations Divisions are responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of the City’s water and sewer infrastructure. These divisions clean and maintain the city's wastewater mains and lift stations. They also respond to clogged wastewater mains, emergency overflows and lift station call-outs.

Fleet Services

The Fleet Services/Vehicle Maintenance Division is responsible for the repair and maintenance of the City vehicle and equipment fleet used by police, fire, and public works in their daily duties with the goal to have vehicles and equipment in a "ready to roll" condition.
